Use case
LinkedIn GIFs that actually animate in the feed
LinkedIn plays GIFs uploaded as photos, including in multi-image posts. Here’s what works.
How to · 3 steps
Step by step
- 1
Frame it for the feed
Set the canvas to the 4:5 LinkedIn shape and add a caption.
- 2
Export with the LinkedIn preset
Lazygif exports 720 px at 12 fps, under 5 MB and 250 frames.
- 3
Upload it as a photo
Use the photo button in the composer, not the video one.
What LinkedIn accepts
GIFs post as images, capped at 250 frames (about 20 seconds at 12 fps). LinkedIn publishes no GIF size limit for posts, but 5 MB is the safe ceiling. GIFs sent through the video uploader don’t animate.
GIFs in a multi-image post
You can add several GIFs to one post. Split a walkthrough with S and use Export each clip separately to get one GIF per step. PDF carousels and carousel ads can’t hold GIFs.
- Lead with your strongest GIF: the first image sets the layout.
- Keep text away from the edges; tiles crop differently on mobile.
- Number the steps so the order is obvious.
| Platform | Max GIF size | Lazygif preset |

FAQ
Questions, answered
What is the LinkedIn GIF size limit?
LinkedIn doesn’t publish one for posts. Keep GIFs under 5 MB and 250 frames.
Why is my GIF not animating on LinkedIn?
Usually it went through the video uploader or it’s too big. Re-upload it with the photo button, under 5 MB.
What aspect ratio is best for LinkedIn GIFs?
4:5 takes the most space on mobile. 1:1 is a safe second choice and suits multi-image grids.
