How to · 3 steps

Step by step

  1. 1

    Download from Loom

On loom.com, choose Download from the video’s menu to get an MP4.

  2. 2

    Trim and cut

Press I and O to trim to the playhead, and S then Delete to remove a mistake.

  3. 3

    Export

Choose Video for an MP4 with your voice, or GIF for a short silent loop.

Cut in the pauses, not the words

Play up to the gap between sentences, stop with K, and nudge one frame at a time with the arrow keys until you’re in the silence. Split there with S. Lazygif never cuts for you, so nothing gets clipped mid-word.

Turn a Loom into a GIF

A 5–10 second loop of the key moment plays inline in a pull request or help article, where a link wouldn’t. Trim to it, add a Text caption, and export GIF.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How do I download a Loom video?
Open it on loom.com and choose Download from its menu. If the option is missing, the owner or admin turned it off.
Does the sound stay in?
Yes, in an MP4 export, in sync with every cut. GIFs are silent.
Will this change my video in Loom?
No. You’re editing a downloaded copy; the Loom and its link stay as they were.
