Why convert WebM at all

Browser extensions, web recorders and OBS often save WebM. It’s efficient, but it won’t show inline in a GitHub README, an email or most docs tools. A GIF will.

Smooth playback from variable frame rate

Browser recordings often save frames only when something changes. Lazygif exports at a fixed frame rate you choose, so motion plays at the right speed.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Why is the GIF bigger than the WebM?
WebM stores only changes between frames; GIF is a format from 1989. Lower width and frame rate, or keep video where it’s accepted.
Can I keep transparency from a WebM?
Only partly: GIF pixels are either fully transparent or fully opaque, so soft edges won’t survive. Put the clip on a solid background.
Is converting WebM to GIF free?
Yes, with no watermark and no sign-up.
